Course Program:
Overview:
This course covers the intersection of Social Web and Semantic Web. It is a research area that is very active, which we will be paying attention to during our investigations.
Social Web relates to all aspects of the Web that involve social contribution. Issues such as identity, trust, participation, cheating, presence all fall in this domain.
Semantic Web is about semantically representing domains of knowledge in an formal and explicit manner. We will particularly focus on the use and development of models related to social web.
Leading edge work and research going on in this domain in W3C will also explored.
The reading list will be provided in the first session of this course. (The topics focus on social web, social network characteristics, social network analysis, semantic web, vocabularies for individuals, communities, social interaction)

Participation means active participation. Everyone is expected to participate during class, where the reading assignments are discussed.
