The Second International Cultural and Academic Meeting of Engineering Students organized by the Engineering Society (ENSO) of Bogaziçi University, will be held in Istanbul between May 11-17,1996. The meeting aims to provide a social and academic forum of undergraduate engineering students from different countries and universities to support the dissemination of culture and knowledge. The theme of ICAMES'96 is "Automation".

Main Events:

• Workshops on accepted projects of undergraduate engineering students from various countries and universities. Projects should be at an advanced stage, if not completed at the time of presentation. In the workshops each project will be presented and discussed, and a workshop report will be prepared by workshop participants. The workshops will be organized as parallel sessions on the following subtopics:
  • Systems Control (chemical plants, power plants, manufacturing systems, etc., controller design)
  • Robotics (mechanical design, sensors, artificial vision and image processing, mobile robots, etc.)
  • Information systems(Expert systems, office automation, manufacturing information systems, etc.)
  • Manufacturing Systems (design planning and management of CIM systems, material handling, quality control, automated data collection, flexible manufacturing systems, etc.)
• A one day technical competition,
• Discussion session on social and economic aspects of automation,
• Presentations, shows and exhibitions on the culture of participating nations. The students will be encouraged to make presentations about their countries with slide shows, documentation, etc.
• Excursions & fun activities such as city tours, Bosphorus tours, parties, etc.

Who should attend:

Teams of undergraduate engineering students are invited to participate with a project in one of the listed subtopics. Projects should be at an advanced stage, if not completed at the time of presentation. Presentations will be in English. Only those project teams that are accompanied by a professor or a research assistant will be admitted. Please complete and submit the application form for each project team.

Meals and accommodation for all participants.

At the end of ICAMES'96 all the participants will be given certificates.

Awards will be presented to the best project in each subtopic.

• Notification of acceptance April 1, 1996
• Final program announcement April 15, 1996
