  Training FAQ

Q)When is the deadline to hand the training documents in?

A) NOTICE The deadline to hand the training reports is October 23, 2008.

Q) What happens if I cannot hand in until the deadline?

A) The penalty is one day reduction from the training period for each day late.

Q) Where do I have to hand my documents in?

A) You have to hand in your documents to Yavuz Selim AYDIN.

Important Note About Submission: There is a list that you have to sign while submitting your documents. IF YOU DO NOT SIGN THIS LIST THEN, YOUR TRAINING WILL NOT BE EVALUATED.  Therefore:

  1. Do NOT submit your documents without signing the list.
  2. Submit your documents personally. That is, do NOT slide them under the door, do NOT put them in the postbox of Yavuz Selim AYDIN in the secretariat.

Q) What are the documents to hand in?

A) You have to hand in:

  1. The training booklet
  2. An evaluation letter (written by you) to evaluate your training and the training site
  3. The training certificate (can be sent by the employer to the department)
  4. The documentation about the work done (print-out of the programs, manuals that you have written, etc.)

Q) What about the stamps (kase) and the approval signatures over the training documents?

A) The weekly programs must be signed and stamped. Moreover, each page of the booklet must be signed and stamped. The training certificate must also be signed and stamped. The working documentation (print-out, etc.) and the evaluation letter will not be signed and stamped.

Q) Can I hand in the training certificate personally together with other documents?

A) Yes. But, it must be in a closed envelope and the envelope must be sealed at the training site.

Q) What are the periods allowed for training?

A) Basically, you can work as a trainee in the summer and winter breaks. You are not allowed to work in the fall and spring semesters and corresponding final periods. You can work as a trainee on weekdays and Saturdays, but not on Sundays. You cannot work on religious and national holidays.

Q) Can I work as a trainee in the Summer School period?

A)The ones taking only one course from Summer School can work 4 weekdays per week + Saturdays. The ones taking two courses can work 3 weekdays per week + Saturdays. If you are taking more than two courses then, your training cannot overlap the Summer School period.

Q) What are the

technics

to fill a training booklet?

A)First of all, you have to realize that you are writing a DIARY, not a summary of a book or manual, for the diary part of the training booklet. Therefore, in the diary you have to explain “WHAT YOU HAVE DONE”. Do NOT summarize a manual or a book for the diary part of your training booklet. You have to give such theoretical and practical aspects of the work done in the “GENERAL REPORT” part of the training booklet. Evaluation of the training in the “GENERAL REPORT” part is another common mistake. You have to write such an evaluation in the “LETTER of EVALUATION”. For other details you may refer to In-Service-Training By-Laws, which is the last page of the training booklets.

Q) How can I find a company for training?

A) The requests for trainee from industry are posted on the training board. Please check this board regularly. Moreover, you can search for other companies. A partial list of companies is available here. Of course, the companies that you can work as a trainee are not limited to those on the list.

Q) Who is the person to ask further questions?
