Experience
in the Industry

Dr Desharnais has a vast experience as consultant around the world.  He had different mandates in Function Point measures, benchmarking, outsourcing evaluation, implementation of measurement program, construction of database form productivity measures (also many contribution to ISBSG database), estimation, audit and verification of functional measures.  Interventions were as much in North America (Canada and USA), Australia and New-Zealand, Europe (Germany, France, UK, Spain, Switzerland).   Those mandates could be two days or more than one year, depending on the assignment.

Experience in as a professor and lecturer

As professor associate he was responsible for two courses at the ÉTS: LOG 510 (Quality Control and Measurement) and LOG 350 (Conception and Evaluation of users Interface).  I prepared the material for these courses as well as giving them.  They were conducted in French.

He also gave the following courses:

GTI-510 (Project Management and Quality Assurance)

LOG-330 (Software Quality Assurance)

MGL801  (Requirements and Specifications for Software Systems)

MGL805 (Verification and Software Quality Assurance)

     As lecturer he also worked at Laval University (Québec), University du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and at METU (Middle East Technical University) in Ankara. 

      Member of different associations

  • Canadian representative on ISO/SC7/WG6 (on Quality measures) and WG22 (on vocabulary).  Liaison between SC7 and SC1 for the vocabulary.
  • Executive member of SPIN for 4 years (2001-2005): Montreal Chapter of the Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN)
  • Member of the GELOG (a research center at ÉTS on Software Engineering)
  • Co-founder and member of COSMIC (Common Software Measurement International Consortium).Responsible for the translation from English to French for different version since 10 years,
  • Researcher for TAM project at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul
