                            Notes on Reviewing a Paper/Subject

You should write a short review of the paper that briefly summaries the paper and discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the work reported. The review should not recapitulate all the material in the paper - remember the review is for someone familiar with the area, but not this particular work.

·        The review should include the following sections:

              Title/Author - Idenitify the paper/subject.

              Brief Summary - Describe the 2-3 main points of the paper/subject.

              Strengths/Weaknesses/Applications if you find - List 2-3 positive elements of the work.

              Impact - Assess the impact of the paper on the research community.

·        Was the paper/subject worth

              reading? Is it important work?

·        Rating - Rate the paper using the following scale:

                    1   (poor)   2(fair)   3   (good)   4 (excellent)

Presentation of the paper:

3 people groups-15 minutes total presentation time

1)      1 minute per transparency

(total of 15 transparencies)

2)      Purpose

3)      Method

4)      Brief results

5)      Your evaluation-conclusion
