Term Paper II, Due: 29.5.2004 Friday
You must read one journal research paper (not a conference paper nor a RFC nor a technical report) in a specific area of your choice in application layer or in distributed systems and write a short termpaper, max two A4 pages long, single space, margins 2.5cm. Typical journals from which you can select your research papers include IEEE Communications, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, Communications of ACM, IEEE Networks, etc. You should carefuly explain your understanding of the paper, by using your own words/sentences (your own English, even if it is broken..!). Cut and paste will strictly be punished as copying.
Your short paper must have at least the following sections :
- Title, author, address of the author, email address (The author is you..!)
- Abstract (max 100 words)
- Introduction (what is the subject, the importance of the subject, the relation of the selected subject to nearby subjects, what has been done in this paper
- One or more sections on the specifics of the selected subject
- Conclusion, including the expected future work
- Reference, must clearly identify which paper you have read to write your paper.
You must attach the copy of the paper you have read, preferably max 10 pages, to your short paper. You can copy/print on both sides of a paper if you like to minimize paper waste. Do not put your submission into plastic wrap, just staple and submit.
Grading: Paper content is 70% (subject selection 20%) and form 30%.
