OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Objections for second midterm will be held on 2 June, Monday between 14:00 - 16:00, in ETA 211.
  • In the project, you should generate your clock signal by using this circuit. Input P stands for "Pulse" and R stands for "Reset". You will give these inputs manually by using buttons (BTN) on the FPGA board.
  • Here is an example about how you can use a bus in Xilinx. Note that, the writings above the wires and the buses are names given to them.
  • Özge Tuncel & Mine Tanrınıan, see the instructor as soon as possible.
  • MT 2 and Laboratory grades are announced (except Lab5 and Lab 8). You may see your TA Okan Irfanoglu for  problems about your preliminary grades.
  • Your Project (II) is announced. You can find it here. You will do the project on your own. Demos will be held on Friday next week (30.5.2003) by appointment. You will have 10 minutes to show your working project only. Time is strict, there will be no extension. You will not be able to change anything in your project during demo.
    However if you want to use the lab next week, ask your assitant for an appropriate time, which means lab use is also by appointment.
  • This week, the experiment for Monday section will be held on Thursday, between 15:00 and 18:00.

  • In your next experiments, you will have to use another Labview program which will generate a clock signal for the boards. You will have to design this program. For the instructions on how to build the program please refer to the following word file or the related zip file.You will be expected to be fully aware of the instructions in the tutorial and be ready to build the program in your experiments.

  • Lab sections for Friday are rescheduled.

  • Cengiz Bayram & Mehmet Fatih Akbulut will not be allowed to the project exam sessions taking place this week due to plagiarism attempt. They will also be penalized according to course rules posted on the Hardware Lab Bulletin Board.
All sections should submit their project preliminary works until Monday, 10:00. The deadline is strict and who do not submit before the deadline will not accepted to the project. Note that this is not a group project and similar submissions will severely punished.
  • You will submit your project preliminary work as follows:
    You will give your STUDENT ID as your preliminary work name and place in a folder named PROJECT. Submissions will be done via email or diskette. Again there will be folder named project and your preliminary will be in this folder with your student id as name.
    Submissions will be done once, and in case of multiple submissions first one counts. Make sure you send the right version. Email address to use is 240submit@cmpe.boun.edu.tr

  • Project section assignments are here. In case of a problem contact your assistants immediately.
  • Furkan Fidan, Seçil Öncü, Hüseyin Emre Özsevimli and Özer Şentürk are exempt from the lab sessions. However, they should participate the laboratory projects of the next week.
  • For next week project: lab Section FF34 is full. Further reservations will not be considered for this section.
  • Next week you will be working on your projects during lab hours, so lab section assignments will be done differently.

    There are 5 sections total, and in each section 16 students will work

    Sections are M67, T78, F12, F34, F56

    Section assignments will be done via emails, and registration will begin 15.04.2003 9am

    You will send your emails with the following rules

    In the body you will write, your NAME, SURNAME, ID, and your TWO (!!) choices of sections.

    Remember to write 2 sections. We may reject your e-mail or assign you a section of our choice if you write only one.

    Send only one email, multiple emails from the same person (person, not email, do not waste your time sending emails from different addresses) will not be taken to consideration, only the last one counts. Be sure that your choices are correct.

    Registrations will only be done via email, any other means is not valid.

    Registration email is 240kayit@cmpe.boun.edu.tr which will not be open till the registration starting time. Your emails will bounce if you send them beforehand.

    Please do not send "Did my email arrive?" type emails, they will be unanswered. You all have cmpe.boun.edu.tr email accounts, use them if you do not trust hotmail, yahoo etc.

  • Experiment No 4 is anounced. It is related to Chapter 5. Bring two photocopies of your preliminary works!!
  • In this experiment you are going to implement the schematic design on an FPGA. Here is a tutorial about it. You are supposed to read it before the lab.
  • The experiment grades for first two labs are announced. Please check the "Grades" page.
  • Lab 1 Preliminary reports grades and Midterm1 grades are announced. Please check the "Grades" page.
  • You may see your midterms at ETA203 at:
    • Thursday 3 April. From 13 PM to 15 PM
    • Friday 4 April. From 13 PM to 15 PM
  • Experiment No 3 is related to Chapter 4 of your lab book. Prepare only your section!!!
  • Experiment No 2 Prepare only your section. !!! Experiment is related to Chapter 2 of your book !!! It is NOT to be done using Karnaugh Maps
  • First Midterm is at YD106 and YD206 between 17:00-19:00 on March 26th, 2003.
    YD106 : Surnames between A - K (Inclusive)

  • Lecture on Th3 at ETA1 has been moved to Th4 at KB-PCLab
  • Make sure you are ready for the first experiments and attend the first lab at all costs. A tutorial will be held, which is mandatory for you.
  • Your first experiments are available, read the 3rd experiment in the book

    Your must prepare YOUR section of the experiment. Double check that you are doing the correct one. Being in the lab with the wrong preliminary work is not acceptable.
