  • Past experience tells that the success of the student in the Discrete Mathematics course is strongly correlated with the number of questions attempted independently during the semester. Thus, you are advised to solve as many questions as possible. You can always contact the assistant for help on a particular question. Mathematical proofs require a familiarity with proof techniques that only develops by actually solving problems; simply reading and understanding the subject will not be enough. Your textbook contains many sample questions with answers. The appropriate way to approach these is to attempt the question without looking at the answer, and checking the correct answer afterwards. Looking at the answer for inspiration will not do, because what you need to develop is the intuition that will tell you how to construct a proof in the first place. You cannot build your muscles by looking at other people practice dumbbells.
