The mission statement of Bogazici University School of Engineering is as follows:
The mission of the Bogazici University School of Engineering is to educate
individuals for careers of leadership and innovation in industry, government
and educational institutions; to expand the engineering knowledge base through
original research; to contribute through professional services towards more
prosperous and sustainable society.
In light of the above mission statement, Department of Computer Engineering
has established the following mission for itself:
Department of Computer Engineering Mission Statement
The mission of the Computer Engineering program is to graduate economically,
socially and ethically conscious engineers that are equipped with the necessary
analytical, mathematical, decision-making, computing, communication, teamwork
and leadership skills that they can use to creatively design, implement, manage,
maintain and improve a wide spectrum of computer hardware, software and information
systems in the modern society.
Additionally, the following eight educational objectives have been agreed
upon to serve our mission statement:
- To provide students with the technical background needed for the practice
of, or for graduate study in Computer Engineering.
- To develop an ability in students to competently employ broad-based analytical
tools and information systems for decision-making, system design, analysis
and performance evaluation.
- To provide students with a broad education that includes humanities and
social sciences and that will make them economically, socially and ethically
conscious professionals.
- Furnish students with opportunities to design experiences in realistic design
projects that a computer engineer would be expected to do in industry.
- Provide students with ongoing opportunities for written and oral presentation
of their ideas and to help them develop good communication skills.
- Educate students to be flexible so that they are able to perform tasks outside
their field of expertise and in multidisciplinary teams.
- Educate students to be life-long learners so that they can be adaptive to
the changing demands in their workplace.
- Guide students to develop their potential for executive, leadership, and
entrepreneurial roles in their chosen profesional carrers.
